HPMC manufacturer-The thickening effect of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose in putty powder mortar

The viscosity of the hydroxypropyl methylcellulose solution depends on the following factors:

1. The molecular weight and concentration of cellulose ether, solution temperature, shear rate and test method.

2. The higher the degree of polymerization of cellulose ether, the higher the molecular weight and the higher the viscosity of its aqueous solution;

3. The higher the content of cellulose ether, the higher the viscosity of its aqueous solution, but when using it, attention should be paid to choosing the appropriate content to avoid excessive content, which will affect the performance of mortar and concrete;

4. Like most liquids, the viscosity of the hydroxypropyl methylcellulose solution will decrease with the increase of temperature, and the higher the concentration of cellulose ether, the greater the influence of temperature;

In addition, the thickening effect of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose will increase the water demand of cement-based materials, thereby increasing the output of mortar.

The cellulose ether solution is usually a pseudoplastic, which has the property of shear thinning. The higher the shear rate during the test, the lower the viscosity.
